Hurricanes are not the only disasters that can affect us here in Florida. Disasters can result from:
Lightning strikes
Floods
Tornadoes
Hazardous materials spills
Radiological accidents
Residential fires
Wildland fires
Terrorism
Here are some informative and helpful guides for disaster preparations in Sarasota County:
EMERGENCY INFORMATION such as important phone numbers, radio stations, NOAA Weather Radio, etc.
SHELTER INFORMATION, including which ones accommodate pets.
EVACUATION ROUTES. We are in Evacuation Zone C (yellow), which means we will be told to evacuate if there is a category 3 hurricane.
PSN (People with Special Needs) Application. Once this form is filed with Sarasota County, they will make provisions for people with medical conditions or who need transportation to a shelter.
